Doing all things without murmurings and disputes. When Elohim asked Adam and Eve whether they had eaten of the forbidden fruit, Adam complained against the woman-- - Adam said: 'Well, it's not my fault, it's the woman that you gave me'. Then the woman complained that the serpent beguiled her. There is this culture of blame right from the very beginning of time. Then Cain is punished for slaying his brother Abel, and when Elohim punished him, he complained that the punishment was too great: 'I cannot bear it!’ He complains against Elohim's judgment upon him. We are programmed in our society today to be discontent. The media and advertisements tell us to be dissatisfied with what we have and to demand want something more. It seems that the more affluent we become the more discontent we are. We're flooded with this dream world through the television, the movies and advertising. Matt. 5:14,16, tells us that we are the light of the world, as a light set on a high hill, as salt in the earth, that men may see our good works - not our murmuring or grumbling nor complaining Lam.3:39 reads, ’wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of sins?’ If a man is wicked and is punished for his sins, no injustice is done to him, and he has no reason to complain. If he is a good man and is rebuked for his sins, then this rebuke is for his good. Instead of complaining that things are bad, we should encourage ourselves with the hope they will be better. We are sinful men, and the punishment that we complain about is far less than what our sins deserve. We should ask Elohim for forgiveness, and not complain about him for the suffering. In times of troubles, we think about others’ ways and blame them, instead we should search our own hearts and lives and turn to Elohim. Because of complaining, Elohim sends him sorrow, so let him weep over the sins which have made punishment necessary. Murmurings are mostly done privately. We are told that Elohim is ever ready to help us (I Cor.10:13) so why should we complain? We should rejoice for the opportunity such troubles give us to grow spiritually (Rom.5:3-5). Those who murmur are likely to be the same ones who begin disputing with others. All it accomplishes is ill will and divisions, destroying the unity that Yahshua prayed for. (John.17:11) Whatever is the will of Elohim, we should do it at once without hesitation or dispute. Disputing refers to doubting Elohim’s promises and hesitating at his commands. We should not consult anyone about the will of Elohim. Just do it and do not find fault with it. Elohim commands obedience not arguments. We do not see Joseph or Daniel grumbling or complaining about their circumstances even when things were going against them. Even when their lives were at stake, they looked to Elohim’s will to lead them out of danger. Our knowledge is imperfect, our mental capabilities are limited; we can see only a very little way into the mysteries of the divine government; we know in part. We must be content with that partial knowledge, we must not attempt to question the love, the goodness and the wisdom of Elohim. Let us not give place to the devil in our lives by murmuring or disputing. Let us resist the devil (James.4:7), be “overcomers” (Rev.2:11) and be blessed. |
